The best fabric shaver for blankets, throws and bedding
A blanket is a sweater the size of a bed. The method is the same and the arithmetic is not: surface area decides which shaver you want and how long the evening takes.

Why blankets pill faster than sweaters
Bedding is washed more often, dried hotter and rubbed by bodies all night. Fleece, microfiber and acrylic throws pill first and hardest, because the synthetic fiber holds its knots. Cotton waffle and wool blankets pill less but show it on a pale color. A throw on the sofa gets the worst of both: washing and friction.
Head size decides the evening
A compact shaver clears a strip about the width of a thumb. A full-size blanket is thousands of those strips. The large-head shaver has a 65mm face and six blade leaves behind a protective mesh, so each pass covers a lane three times wider and the blanket is done in a sitting rather than a weekend. For blankets, throws and duvet covers, that is the whole answer.
Fleece, wool, cotton and microfiber, one by one
Fleece: expect two passes and a full container; empty halfway. Wool: firm pills that come off in one pass, light hand, watch the satin binding at the edge. Cotton waffle and flannel: shave along the weave, no pressure, the mesh does the spacing. Microfiber: pills are tiny and dense; work slowly and let suction do the lifting. Chunky knit throws: skip the shaver and pick the pills by hand; the loops are too big for any guard.
Method for a full-size blanket
Make the bed and use it as the table; the mattress gives a firm, flat surface. Fold the blanket in quarters and do one quarter at a time in overlapping lanes, turning it as you go. Empty the container at each quarter. Finish with the edges, which pill where they are tucked, and shake the blanket outdoors before it goes back on the bed.
Which finish for the linen cupboard
Within the line every color shaves the same. We keep the white large head with the sheets, where it does not look like a tool, and the darker finishes by the sofa. For the throw that lives on the armchair, our note on why a couch pills covers the same shaver on upholstery.
